Summary of the Me Time
Maya (played by Regina Hall), works as an architect to support the family, Sonny Fisher (played by Kevin Hart), a dedicated father, spends his time caring for his kids, helping for school field trips, and being active in the PTA.
Even though they’ve had success with this arrangement in the past, Maya worries that Sonny hasn’t had a chance to explore his own interests and urges him to take some time for himself while she and the kids go on a spring break trip. She even advises that he join his wild, seasoned friend Huck Dembo’s 44th birthday celebration (played by Mark Wahlberg).
But when Sonny begins to live more in the present and less in his broken-down minivan, things swiftly get out of hand for him. This becomes more complicated when he discovers that Maya’s charming customer, Armando (played by Luis Gerardo Mendez), has flown up in a plush aircraft to her parents’ home and invited them to talk with him about buying a private island. If Sonny is not careful, he may end up causing more harm to his marriage than Armando ever could.
There are multiple sexual innuendos in the movie, along with bad language, humorous violence, and social drinking. One of these involves a scene in which Mark Wahlberg’s buttocks are seen shining in the sun. Fans of Kevin Hart could find this interesting, but for those who are less interested, the movie might not be worth the 101 minutes. Overall, cleaning the bathroom or shampooing the carpet are perhaps more delightful ways to spend one’s time.
